School is out for Summer!

May 25th, 2009, 4:21 pm

Well it’s hard to believe but I am done with high school, at least as far as I’m concerned. I had my last final on Wednesday of last week. Thursday and Friday I shadowed my Aunt, who is a French teacher, at a local high school. All in all it was pretty boring, I wasn’t able to do much. The proxy was way to strict IMO. Sourceforge was blocked, that says enough right there. Tuesday I have to go back and then on June 2, I officially graduate.

So summer has started. I will hopefully devote some time to various projects such as arch-home and audio-recorder. I’m taking two classes at Lakeland Community College and working full time at NDCL. At least I’ll make a bit of dough.

Life is running wild!

May 7th, 2009, 6:34 am

Well believe it or not I am still kicking and screaming! I finished one College class and I have one left to go. I just have a few more small sections of questions to answer.

I dropped learning dvorak, and learned qwerty again. I found out that one of the placement tests at The University of Akron gives a time typing test. I will be taking these tests on Monday so hopefully I’ll be able to switch back to dvorak without much of a problem afterward.

My uncle decided to get a new computer. So I ordered the parts and put it all together. Everything seemed fine. However, when ever installing software the system would freeze and lock up. The BIOS would not detect the drive until I powered off and powered the machine back on. When this happened I grabbed the sata cable and plugged it into my system. My system detected the drive and everything seemed to be okay. This lead me to conclude it was the motherboard that was bad, maybe faulty sata controller. Well I RMA’d the board and got a new one yesterday. Hooked everything up and I thought the problem was solved. Needless to say it was not and the same behavior started occur, however the BIOS still detects the drive when the freeze/lock-up happens. So I got an RMA for the hard drive and we will see what happens. I put and older IDE drive in the system and everything seems to work just fine so I don’t think it is any of the other components causing problems.

I was suppose to take the Red Hat Certified Technician exam on June 12th. Well the person that my professor had to talk in order to get the vouchers, waited to long and the exam center filled up. They are offering us July 24th which I suppose will work. It is just a pain because everything is going to start picking up by that time. What can you do though?

Well until next time…. I’m out!

DTV Delay…

February 5th, 2009, 8:00 pm

This delay really ticks me off. I am not so fortunate to have cable or satellite like most of you. In general I am against the switch over because I had to spend over $50 with the coupons to buy 3 converter boxes for the TVs I had in the house. And so far $40 on better antennas. However, this is besides the point.

They have been telling people for over a year that they would need converters boxes. I’ve heard people say it was delayed because there weren’t enough coupons! Why are we running out of coupons now?!?! If there weren’t enough coupon we should have ran out months ago. Then I would understand this delay a little bit more. Instead we ran out a few weeks ago!

Now I’m stuck, I have only one roof antenna and sadly the signal is not strong enough to be split. This means that my other two televisions have to use Indoor Antennas. These two tvs get only 3 channels: 5, 8, and 43. 8 is the only channel that comes in without being choppy, 5 and 43 usually comes in decently, but there are some skips in the video. I live in the city, not to far from the broadcasting towers.

I was hoping for the switch over to see better digital reception. Now those hopes are gone. The government forces us to switch to a crapper service and then they delay the switch! I love dtv when it actually comes in, it’s 100x better, but if you below a certain threshold, it absolutely impossible to watch that channel!

I can’t switch between analog and dtv because I have other people in the house and it would confuse the hell out of them!

I’m back! :D

February 3rd, 2009, 8:14 am

Alright, I didn’t go anywhere, but I have been extremely busy these last few weeks! I’ve been working on Red Hat and Psychology. I had a Psych test the other day and I got a 48/50 (96%) on the test! I am not quite sure how I managed to do that! I have my next test at the end of the month, so give it a week I’ll be studying once again for that!

There hasn’t been much going on lately, just trying to get by, finish up with school. I’m sick of tired of all the totally pointless and irrelevant classes I need be in such as Creative Foods II and Business in the 21st Century. Though I got like what, 3 months till I’m free?!

R.I.P. Speakers

January 4th, 2009, 4:41 pm

Well today kinda sucks, I found out my speaker system is dead! The subwoofer decided to take a crap on me. For whatever reason the left audio RCA port stopped working. The audio was barely audible out of the left speaker. However the same speaker works fine when plugged into the right RCA port.

Sadly my computer doesn’t provide enough power to the two satellite speakers so I can only use my mp3 player to listen to music. I guess it is better than nothing though.

I don’t exactly have the money to buy a new pair of speakers right now.

I’m looking at either:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836113008 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836113168 right now.
I am hoping the become a bit cheaper though, maybe I can find them on sale.

For the time being I’ll be speakerless, as I don’t even have a pair of cheap speakers laying around.

Almost Done…

December 27th, 2008, 1:49 pm

Well after spending a good 4 to 5 days working on the website I am almost done. I have to get input from my client and see what she wants done, fixed, adjusted, etc… Besides that I believe I got everything done she wanted. It works in every single web browser that I’ve been able to get my hands on.

Blood Donation Adventure

December 6th, 2008, 10:06 pm

So a few days ago I finally decided to byte the bullet and sign up to donate blood. I wasn’t going to donate unless if I was able to do it first thing in the morning, mainly because I had tests, in my last two classes.

Anyways, I was little bit nervous that I’d pass out or something like that, the main reason why I waited over 6 months to give blood. So yesterday was the day to donate blood. I woke up, ate a waffle and drank a glass of milk. Rushed off to school and just made it on time by the skin of my teeth! I hide my book bag and laptop, went down to the office to check-in (as I don’t have a class block 1), and then went to donate blood.

First, I had to look over a book which basically said if you have any type of disease or illness don’t bother to donate, turn around and go back. After reading the book, I checked in, and then sat down to wait for my turn. When I was called, they took my blood pressure, temperature, checked my iron count, etc… standard stuff. Lastly I had to take a test to make sure I could donate blood. The test asked if you were out of the country, had this or that medications, etc…

So I passed the “test” and I was ready to go. I had to wait for a few minutes for a bed to become available. The nurse who took my blood was very nice. She asked me if I had an arm preference and how I was doing. She put iodine on my arm, found my vein, and stuck me with the needle. I was off. She asked me how I was feeling and I said I was fine. My friend was talking to me and everything was going well. He then went to entertain someone else. Again the nurse asked me if I was feeling alright, I said yes, and then she told me that I was half way done.

Shortly after being told I was half way done, I started to feel a bit strange. I didn’t think much of it. The strange feeling got worse rather quickly. I was starting to feel lightheaded. As the nurse told me to let her know if I didn’t feel, I did just that. Right after I told her I wasn’t feeling well and that I was light headed, I got extremely dizzy and started to blackout. The nurse lowered the bed and raised my feet up (I guess this helps). The put cold wet rags on me and I eventually recovered. From what I was told I was very pale. I probably laid on the bed for about 20-30 minutes afterward. I eventually got up and went to get some sugar (cookies, chips) and fluid (water + coke). While I was eating I got sick to my stomach and I had to use the bathroom. Of course that had to have someone escort me to the bathroom to make sure I didn’t pass-out or anything like that.

I went back to the gym and stayed there until lunch. I missed my government class and homeroom. I went to donate at 8:00am and didn’t leave until 11:00am. I felt pretty shitty until about 2:00pm. However, I felt fine the rest of the day. Needless to say it was an interesting  experience. I plan on trying again, but drinking a lot more before I donate, and having the bed put into a bed position before I start.

Snow Driving

November 21st, 2008, 9:48 am

Driving in the snow isn’t always fun, more times then not its pain in the butt, especially when you’re driving out in the country were the most snow falls! Regardless the key of driving in snow is to go slow!!!! Now sometime no matter how slow you go you’ll run into troubles, but so many accedients are caused because people simply don’t drive slowly. You simply can’t go 45mph when the road is covered in snow. It just doesn’t work that way!!!

You always need give your self plently of distance. Do you have enough distance to safely stop without crashing into the car infront of you, if for whatever reason in you needed to stop fast?

I have seen two or three kids in ditches and accidents simply because they are going to fast, trying to stop to fast, and don’t give themselfs enough stopping distance. It’s no wonder why insurance is so high!!!

Speech Midterm – A+

October 16th, 2008, 9:17 pm

I took my speech midterm today. The previous class he gave us all the questions and answers to the midterm so it was fairly simple. As I suspected, I passed with flying colors 45/45 which gets reduced to 15/15 (100pt total grading system).
